Hi, I’m Janani!
My childhood began in the bustling metropolises of India, but what truly shaped who I am today were the years spent in a small town where my family moved when I was in middle school. This move to a minimalist lifestyle taught me invaluable problem-solving skills and fostered my independence. My mom was my academic mentor, teaching me math and science, while my dad instilled practical life skills. Together, we embraced the new culture and language of our small town, learning to adapt and thrive in a different environment.
Growing up, I developed a keen interest in blending technicality and creativity. My journey into robotics began with an internship where I encountered a guitar-playing robot. This fascinating blend of technology and art sparked my passion for robotics. Inspired to delve deeper into this field, I moved to the US in 2018 to pursue a master's degree in robotics. I then began my career in robotics fueled my enthusiasm for innovative solutions. Throughout my studies and professional work in robotics startups, I became known for my meticulous attention to detail. This trait proved invaluable when I started my green card journey!
My husband and I met through our parents and got married in December 2022. We decided to apply for my green card based on our marriage in 2023 so we could build our life together here in the US. The lawyer fees, in addition to the filing fees, were prohibitively expensive. As an immigrant in the US, I had also gone through several immigration processes myself though none of them were as elaborate. But this gave us the confidence to apply for our green card ourself.
Despite our determination, we felt lost, intimidated, and overwhelmed. Given the importance of this step in our lives, I knew I had to understand every detail of the process. This led me to spend weeks reading official documents, blogs, and watching videos about the process. The initial research took me a month before I felt comfortable to even start the application process, not to mention the additional research required for each of the subsequent steps like biometrics, the medical examination, and the interview.
Now, I have compiled all the insights and knowledge from our personal experience and extensive research into a digital course- something I wished my husband and I had when we went through this process ourselves.
Presented in easy-to-understand language, this course is designed to help you confidently navigate your own marriage-based green card application from start to finish. My goal is to make the immigration process less burdensome and financially accessible, enabling people to self-file with confidence and clarity.
